Lolz. We set off to walk about a mile to another place to watch NCAA football, but it was sprinkling rain, so some of our party aborted in favor of a Lyft. My “outdoor walk” workout was likewise cut short. 😂

I’ve returned in 2019 to reading a lot. I make LOTS of highlights when I read, whether print or eBook.

For books that are online-only, does anyone know of a tool that can package them in ePub or similar format for offline reading + highlighting?

Took this at the midpoint of my 17.8mi bike ride this afternoon. Second bike ride in as many days. Super nice weather again — though I’d honestly feel better if we had normal winter Wx right about now.

Apparently, it is possible walk 20k steps at >2.5mph, close my Apple Watch’s activity ring, and still only get a two (2) minutes for the exercise ring. 🤨

Old News / Same News

I recently made a playlist of some LPs that were high-rotation for me in high school.

The currently playing track is called “Greenhouse Effect” by Testament. The subject matter seemed like old news even in 1989.

The chorus:

Our only hope to breathe again
To stop the madness closing in
What will we do when all is lost
Environmental holocaust...

TFW you hit your 12 stand hours goal before 3pm. 🥱

When I have to scroll to see all of the breakpoints in Xcode’s Breakpoint Navigator, then I know I’ve got some work ahead of me.

TIL: Acronym vs. Initialism

“Most readers probably know that an acronym is an invented word made up of the initial letters or syllables of other words, like NASA or NATO. Fewer probably know that an initialism is a type of acronym that cannot be pronounced as a word, but must be read letter-by-letter, like FBI or UCLA.”

Now muttering “CD-ROM” to myself…

Happy New Month, everyone!

Listening to bands like Gojira + Cattle Decapitation (both bands have environmentally-aware lyrics) was reminding me of a period in high school (so, 30yrs ago) where I was trying my hand at writing lyrics — and they were similarly focused. The environment isn’t better off today.

I think this is overstating the situation.

So, Rage Against the Machine is reuniting, but will they release new music, or just tour?

I’d like to see the former but would be more excited about the latter.

Currently listening to: Burning Fight by Inside Out l.

Well, I guess I’ve officially listened to every episode of the Independence podcast.

After a quick skim through my M•b feed, I think I can spot the mbnov cue word for the day. 🙂

Either that, or there’s some unexpected synchronicity going on. 👀

I could really stand to stay inside tonight with as much work as I have to do and with the temperatures as low as they are outside.

But! I’m on my way to a concert anyway. Got the tickets months ago. The line up? Phil Anselmo, Ministry, Primus, Slayer. 🎸 🤘

I’m curious: Does anyone on Micro•blog cross-post to Pnut•io? If so, how?

Is there an Apple Watch workout type for “yard work”? Did I just overlook it (completely likely — or, asking probably unfairly, do the fitness/HealthKit people at Apple just not have yards that they, themselves, work on)?

I started my leaf-raking listening to music, but later switched to Dan Carlin’s new (audio, for me) book, The End Is Always Near. So far, unexpectedly, if you like Hardcore History, this is a safe bet for you.

Beer + Yard Work

We have a beer tap in the garage for parties. When there is beer left over after a party, I feel it is my duty not to let it go to waste. 😉 Two years ago, I had frosty mugs while shoveling show. Just now, my nearly three hours of leaf-raking was punctuated by several pint glasses.

I’m proud of the progress I’ve been making. 🥦💪

Pluggin’ away on Duolingo.

How much food for thought can I ingest during a fast and still stay in ketosis?
