I bought a CD. Why? The band is not available in Apple Music. So, I try to import it to Music/iTunes.
But nothing is happening. It’s like the CD is not there.
And Apple’s help — Big Sur specific help— is factually wrong.
Troubleshooting the CD drive now, but my hunch currently is that this is Apple’s fault. ☹️
I’m a little surprised to find that my “a minute or two of Duolingo every day” apparently landed me enough XP to be in the top 2% of users in 2020. 🤨
Who wants to friend me in the app and defeat me in 2021?
I just deleted a reply that was totally well-intentioned but that I feared might be misunderstood at 280 characters. 😐
Apple used to tout how much it loved music.
Well, among many other examples of this no longer being the case: it’s nearly 2021 and I still can’t create a smart playlist on my iPhone using Apple’s first-party app.
Smart playlists were introduced in iTunes 3 in 2002… How much more powerful is my iPhone today than Macs were in 2002?
(Or, can I do this, and I’m just overlooking how — and complaining needlessly as a result? 👀)
If I were on my deathbed right now, I’d want a button I could press (or, rather, release) as I pass that would play the Wilhelm Scream.
😹
Today would have been Bruce Lee’s birthday (1940) and Jimi Hendrix’s birthday (1942).
I think that qualifies as making this an auspicious day for birthdays, at least in 20th century terms.
Then I saw that it is also Steve Bannon’s birthday (1953), and so I may have to rescind my consideration for auspiciousness.
I’ve been using Panic’s Nova for Ruby and JS work on a client project. Now, as I move back to doing Flutter tasks for it, I’m wishing there were Flutter/Dart extensions for Nova. Visual Studio Code is great, and the Flutter support is slick, but I’m missing Nova. I hope someone implements support for it soon.
Also: maybe I should revisit Onivim 2’s support for vscode’s extensions…?
And: I wonder how hard/time-consuming it would be to make an extension for Nova myself…?
🤔
What does it mean when UPS says my package was loaded on a truck and marked “out for delivery” early on this Saturday morning, yet the delivery estimate —while it did move back up from Tuesday— continues to target late afternoon on Monday? It’ll sit on a truck all weekend??
I was getting dangerously low on SSD space. DaisyDisk found lots of space that iMazing had hanging around for what seems like no good reason, plus that TimeMachine had recent snapshots despite being disabled.
Cleaning those out bought me back more than 700GB of combined free space!
My Apple Watch / Activity challenge for November is based on the number of 15-minute+ workouts I do.
I did one today, but it refuses to sync to my iPhone.
That’s not exactly motivational. 😒
Was nicely surprised to notice today that I’ve got the “Arctic Code Vault Contributor” highlight on my GitHub profile. Not sure when that showed up.
Is there a way to see the full list of qualifying repos I’ve contributed to? The hover window lists three and says “and more!”
I’m accidentally becoming more deft at passing flags to run things on non-default ports this week. Currently running two React web apps, Serverless lambdas, a Rails app, and two PostgreSQL databases at the same time. Not to mention a proxy tool. And, this seemed easier than ramping up on Docker Compose.😅
I’m considering changing my “Official™” job title (as used for online registration forms) from Senior Keyboard Operator to Junior Meeting Attendee. 🤔
My wife got me a guitar for our anniversary. She’s awesome! And it’s niiice… 🤤 It’s an Ernie Ball Music Man BFR Axis Super Sport Baritone, with a “starry night” finish — my first baritone.
I went to eye doctor for an exam and new glasses.
Took my prescription sunglasses with me in preparation for the inevitable pupil dilation.
While there, I realize that I’ve misplaced my sunglasses. (I hate losing things.)
So, I also get new sunglasses (visualize the money leaving my wallet here).
Return home to find that my old sunglasses case apparently fell out of my hoodie pocket when I got in the car (excitement…) and then were subsequently run over (…dashed). 😥
Like an earworm that had been through a torturous science experiment, I woke up with an odd and unexpected medley of Black Sabbath’s Heaven and Hell, Bobby Helms’ Jingle Bell Rock, and Wings’ Silly Love Songs in my brain.
Tomorrow, I’ll be celebrating Stanislav Petrov Day.
Zoinkees! I’ve lost 14lbs in the last month, nearly 12 of that in the last week.
This is a heck of an illness. At least I’m finally on the upswing. It will be interesting to see how my weight trends from here as I slowly return to normal eating.
So far, since dinner on Friday, I’ve had a grand total of about 250 calories of food (consisting of plain toast and Pedialyte).
So, I’ve come to realize that a bright side of being sick is its benefit to the grocery budget. 😏
“Heartbreaker”. 🎸
Whose song of this title is “better” in your opinion: Led Zeppelin or Pat Benatar?
