I already listen to _too many podcasts ™ _, but then I check out this episode of another one and like it. sigh Tides of History (overcast.fm)
(I’m not sure if this is more of a one-off format —I’m guessing it is— but I think it’s a good, if concerning, one.)
Yes! I have wanted one of these for a long time. The first campaign didn’t get funded. I really hope this one does. If you play a stringed instrument, maybe consider backing, as well.
Now I just need to decided if I’m getting 2 or 3 (for myself and others). 😁
Work break.
Playing guitar.
Loud (with headphones).
Getting crazy (but still playing seated).
Really into it.
Hit a power chord like I meant it (and I did).
Realize I pulled some (of my longest) beard hairs out in the chord-rocking process.
The story was so good, right up until the end.
But it was still worth it.
The league competition in Duolingo seems to be fiercer lately.
That’s really the main reason I want things to go back to normal: so that people have less time to earn more points than me.
(This is all in jest, of course. Shelter-in-place humor, and all that.)
Note: It has since been remarked that the below information may not be correct. The quoted blurb appears verbatim all over the web, but is contradicted by some sources.
I don’t remember where I first saw it, but this timely blurb about my occupation is all over the web:
“April 12th, 1947: ENIAC, the world’s first general-purpose programmable electronic computer, ran the first code written in the modern paradigm, marking the birth of computer programming as a profession.”
Since I stopped drinking soda-cola-pop more than a year ago, I’ve added green and black tea (cold-brewed) 🍵 and kombucha to my beverage preferences. Wine, beer, and various whiskeys remain on my list, too 🥃 though water is still my primary replacement. :)
So… If I am able to go to Europe via NYC as planned on Friday, will I subsequently be able to get back to the U.S.?
So, despite my fondness for the evolution of human languages, I’m still with Wilhite and a certain 7-years-wiser peanut butter maker..
(Maybe, after 7 years, it was again time for Smucker Co to try to profit from WWW angst?)

I went on an hour-long Bike ride in the Bright sun (and 40ºF temps). 🚴 I tried Breathing in through my nose for the entire ride. 🌬 I got a good look at a Buck and a Bald eagle. 🦌 🦅 I also oBserved (yeah, it doesn’t start with a ‘B’; my post, my rules 😝) that one of the homeless sites I can see from the path now has a solar panel (maybe 3’x4’). 🌞 And, since my wife thinks late February needs some excitement, and her and our friend’s half-Birthdays are this week, we’re having a party for that tonight. 🎂 And I’m Bringing my swim trunks —just in case!— since there will be alcohol and a hot tub there. 🤽♂️
The fact that there is a new Huey Lewis & The News album out today makes me feel a little better about the world.
It’s been one year since I had a soda.
Or a cola.
Or a pop.
\o/
I stopped on a whim. Before that, I would have multiple per day, and did so for decades. Considering that, it’s kind of odd how easy it was to stop.
For any of my programmer friends who have somehow never seen it, I hereby notify you of this truly classic lightning talk.
Side note: I was lucky enough to be there for it live.
This warning popped up during my bike ride today. There is a lot of wind out there — enough for a “special weather statement” about it, though I don’t think the Wx statement said anything about noise levels. :)
What beliefs or habits do I have today that will look silly, or wrong, or otherwise outrageous 50-100 years from now?
(If you know, please lemme know now. ;)
It’s 2020 and I’m still adding articles to my read-later service at a faster rate than I actually read them.
I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for about a year-and-a-half. It has been working for me. I feel much better being a little hungry now & then than I do being overweight, so I’m definitely sticking with it.
Here’s a graph of the 33lbs I have lost since I was at my heaviest recorded weight two years ago today.
A watched baggage claim conveyor belt doesn’t move. Especially after 1am. Nor does it boil, but I’m not waiting for that.
I never bet on sports before, but I did for tonight’s UFC event. I love Conor, but I’ve been a Cowboy fan for 12 years. Cerrone is (over)due for a big-time win. And I always love a good upset. :)
But Conor worked his magic. It was as beautiful to watch as it was heartbreaking.
