I’m not sure I’ll stick with it.
I am definitely a curmudgeon in terms of my old school preference for purchasing music (and find myself buying more from Bandcamp than iTunes these days to better support the artists), but I also know I’ll switch to streaming someday (and likely save tons of money as a result).
Will I continue past the trial? I dunno. Will my purchases transition to being exclusively for artists on Bandcamp? Will I start purchasing more vinyl?? Or will I cancel and push off “the inevitable” a while longer?
Time will tell.
In the meantime, I’ve still got a bunch of pre-orders I’ll let ride. :)
It’s surprising how often I wish I had a second camera handy to capture when iOS goes crazy on my phone. Screenshots never work until the insanity has resolved, of course.
Just had an app screen contents appear as the app icon in Springboard.
I enjoy seeing Tool dominate the music charts since adding their back catalog to digital services — and now they have the #1 spot in all of iTunes for their new track. 🎵
I’m missing The Aristocrats concert tonight. Just too much else to do right now. :(
Consoled myself with getting another of their albums (and also one from opener, Travis Larson Band).
Any other week and I would have been there.
A while back, I set up notifications for some specific, individual accounts in IG and Tw, and only ever open those apps for that. It’s been nice.
I’d prefer to subscribe to those particular feeds with RSS/atom, though. I should look into setting that up somehow.
I’m already feeling like a grumpy old man tonight (tonight was fun), but what does it mean to have 26k followers with only 11 posts on IG?
🎵 I’ve also been on a kick listening to more Triumph lately.
I never saw them live, though I was lucky enough to attend a guitar clinic + concert with solo Rik Emmett once in the early 90s.
Had nearly forgotten how much I enjoy Suicidal Tendencies.
In particular —for me— Join the Army and How Will I Laugh Tomorrow… When I Can’t Even Smile Today are still so fun. 🎵
Addendum: A friend and I bought concert tickets today. The lineup = Ministry, Primus, Slayer. 🤘
Does the fact that there is –in my lifetime– now a 3rd generation of Charlie’s Angels mean that I’m getting old?
This year, for the first time, I walked in the Independence Day parade with my street’s float. It was a good time! My wife and kids participate every year, but I usually don’t. This year’s float was a Saturn V rocket. Happy 4th! 🇺🇸
Biked 7 miles 🚴♂️ and now having a beer 🍺 at one of my traditional stops here: The Big Bamboo Café.
They no longer offer “The War Dog”, but I had it once: a cheese-injected, bacon-wrapped, deep-fried hot dog with chili and more cheese on top. It was good, but once was enough. 🌭
Eating dinner. Outdoor seating. Hoping for the advent of nano drones AI-trained to keep flies away from the table.
I often use MarsEdit to —among other things— fix typos in my posts. I just realized I need to figure out how to do it without MarsEdit this week since I don’t have my computer with me (nor an iOS version ;)
Just had one of the servers bring me a water un-prompted. I thanked him, and he replied with a big grin, “no problem, Scott Ian.”
He knew I was not actually Mr. Ian of Anthrax —despite the notable chin-beard style we share (along with other rockers, like Jordan Rudess)— but he took the chance I’d know who that was. :) A brief conversation about metal followed.
On vacation. Perhaps I should take this opportunity to post more often. :)
It might help if the cellular and WiFi at the rental house wasn’t essentially non-existent.
I don’t have the money for one of these, but I’d still like one. :) MIDI Sprout
Heard about it here.
There has never been a good “field guide” app on iOS for North American trees. I wish there was, though I suspect the demand is low enough that there probably never will be.
When I was a kid, nuclear war was the big doomsday worry. “It could happen.”
Watching the Ice on Fire documentary now, and my kids have climate change as an analogous worry — with a difference that it is happening.
I have a road trip coming up. Made a new playlist for it with these artists: The Dear Hunter (ht: @theWeeklyListen), Translatlantic, Flying Colors, Porcupine Tree, Spock’s Beard, Riverside (ht: @jacob ), Haken, Big Big Train (ht: @joec ), Steven Wilson, Storm Corrosion, and Opeth
Well, try as I might to avoid it, I’ve added another subscription to my podcast player.
And it has joined the ranks of the VERY few I play at regular 1x speed. 🙄
Thanks a lot, @joec! 😜
Three venues, four days, five stages. 🎸 Sun, rain, wind, a rainbow. 🌈 I saw bands; I missed bands. 🎶
Here’s who I did see perform: Buckethead, Zeal & Ardor, Pussy Riot, Black Label Society, Meshuggah, Ghost, The Black Dahlia Murder, Gojira, Architects, The Cult, Primitives, Lo-Pan, plus other partial performances. 🎵
I had planned to see more artists (Refused, The Hives, Joan Jett), but two of the stages were shut down on Sunday due to high winds, and they even evacuated everyone for a while. 🌬 Eventually, they re-opened the gates and the main stage, but I wasn’t heading back over by that point, even for the Foo Fighters. Refused played a last-minute make-up show at another venue that night, as well, which was very cool of them – but I opted to stay home and watch the GoT finale with my wife. 🐲
Tomorrow: three (more) days of music.
Saw Buckethead live for the 1st time tonight. Fun show!
He started late: 2hrs 25min after doors. No opener. Then he played for two hours. A night of waiting, sweating, guitar+, KFC buckets, a white mask, a mannequin hand, a rubber chicken, nunchakus, and gifts for the audience.
A new edition of my favorite programming book ever is available as a beta. I think I read the original not very long after it came out – psyched to read this version!
